Riverside Police Chief Thomas Weitzel appointed Sgt. Leo Kotor, a 20-year veteran of the department, to the position of Detective Sergeant, effective July 9th, 2017. He replaces Sgt. Frank Lara who was promoted to Operations Lieutenant in June 15th, 2017.

Chief Weitzel said he has every confidence that Sgt. Kotor will succeed in his new position, citing Kotor’s years of experience as a supervisor who has worked on adult and youth cases.

Sgt. Kotor has been the Riverside Police Department’s Northern Illinois Police Alarm System (NIPAS) Emergency Service Team Member for the past 15 years; he has also served as patrol officer, officer in charge (OIC) and patrol sergeant.

"Sgt. Kotor has demonstrated that he is an effective, experienced supervisor," said Weitzel.

Sgt. Kotor is also a graduate of Northwestern University Center for Public Safety’s School of Police Staff and Command.
