[ARCHIVED] Household Hazardous Waste Collection

Composting Recycling Sustainability

The Illinois Environmental Protection Agency (IEPA) will hold several one-day household hazardous waste collections throughout Illinois in June.  Two of the locations are near West Suburban Cook County.  


June 10, 2017 from 8:00 am - 3:00 pm:  City of Oak Forest, Department of Public Works, 158th & Lorel Ave., Oak Forest, IL

June 24, 2017 from 8:00 am - 3:00 pm:  Village of Schaumburg, location TBD, Schaumburg, IL


In addition, the following long-term facilities are available for disposal of household hazardous waste.

City of Naperville, 156 Fort Hill Drive (immediately north of Naperville Public Works at 180 Fort Hill Drive)

Saturdays:  9:00 am - 2:00 pm

Sundays: 9:00 am - 2:00 pm


City of Chicago Household Hazardous Waste Collection Facility

1150 N. North Branch (on Goose Island)

Tuesdays: 7:00 am - 12:00 pm

Thursdays:  2:00 pm - 7:00 pm

First Saturday of each month:  8:00 am - 3:00 pm


Household hazardous waste includes items such as:  

  • Appliances
  • Batteries
  • Certain Construction Debris
  • Electronic Equipment
  • Fluorescent Bulbs
  • Medical Waste
  • Mercury Thermometers
  • Oil
  • Paint
  • Special Wastes
  • Tires
