The State of Illinois offers a website at www.illinoishousinghelps.org to guide state residents in need of emergency housing assistance due to financial hardship caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. Learn about the emergency assistance programs available to you by multiple state agencies including: the Illinois Housing Development Authority (IHDA), the Illinois Department of Human Services (IDHS) and the Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity (DCEO).
The site offers programs for rent and mortgage assistance, utility bill payment, legal aid, and more.
Riverside Township offers financial assistance to residents through the General Assistance program and the Emergency Assistance program. The General Assistance program provides temporary financial support for Township residents in need who are looking for jobs, but do not qualify for, or are waiting for a decision on unemployment, disability, or other government programs.
The Emergency Assistance program is a one-time award to alleviate a health and/or welfare crisis. To find out if you meet the requirements necessary to apply for the Township programs, contact the Township Supervisor, Vera Wilt, at 708-442-440 or via email at supervisor@riversidetownship.org.
