The police report for the early morning incident on East Burlington is below:
This morning at approximately 12:45 AM, Riverside Police and Fire Departments were dispatched to a report of a vehicle accident on the 100 block of East Burlington. This accident involved a single vehicle and was the result of a police chase from Berwyn. There was one occupant in the vehicle, the driver, who was removed from the vehicle and the vehicle was on fire. The Village was assisted by Berwyn, Brookfield and McCook. The occupant/driver of the vehicle was treated and transported to Loyola Hospital and the vehicle fire was extinguished. There was a large police and fire presence during the time of the incident and Public Works assisted in the clean-up on East Burlington.
The incident involving this vehicle began in River Forest and traveled south on Harlem Avenue. The offending vehicle lost control on the 3200 block of Harlem Avenue and crashed into a building on the Berwyn side of Harlem Avenue causing substantial damage. The vehicle then continued south on Harlem Avenue and then west on East Burlington Street. The vehicle hit a curb at East Burlington Street and Cowley Road, then struck several trees and a fire hydrant before coming to a stop. Berwyn officers were able to remove the sole occupant/driver from the driver’s seat and await our arrival. Berwyn will be handling the arrest of this offender and Riverside Police Department will complete the crash report for the areas in Riverside.
