The Village of Riverside will host a community engagement event on Thursday, January 19. The Road to 2050 event is an opportunity for all members of the community to help shape Riverside’s future.
Starting at 7:30 p.m. at the Riverside Township Hall Auditorium, located at 27 Riverside Road, attendees will learn more about the Village's participation in the Cross-Community Climate Collaborative (C4) and meet the local C4 Team. Participants will also be actively visioning and proposing ideas for the future of Riverside in alignment with the C4’s three touchstones: Resiliency, Equity, and Climate Protection.
Riverside’s C4 Team includes representatives from the Village, the Township, D96, and a variety of other community groups. Team members will help facilitate the Road to 2050 discussion and seek additional community members to assist with the goals prioritized by this process.
Trustees Aberdeen Marsh-Ozga and Cristin Evans were appointed along with Planning & Zoning Commissioner Jacqueline Miller to represent the Village in C4 regional gatherings. "The Road to 2050 will be a great kickoff and an important part of Riverside's planning for a more green, equitable, and resilient future," says Marsh-Ozga. "It gives community members of all ages and backgrounds a way to purposefully brainstorm, prioritize, and make personal connections that could help everyone in our area in the long-term. It’s exciting to be involved in this type of road map development.”
Additional opportunities for involvement will be shared on the Village website and on social media around the time of the community engagement event.
The C4 initiative C4 is a regional collective effort by West Central Cook County municipalities. The effort is designed to bring together BIPOC and non-minority communities across income lines to share ideas, secure resources, and drive large-scale projects within and across communities that achieve agreed upon greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions reductions, equity, and sustainability goals.
RSVP (email C4Team@riverside.il.us) is welcome but not required. Find more information about the event and sign up for news alerts for this topic by visiting the Village's Green Initiatives website pages.
