On the morning of Thursday, January 12th, Village staff noticed that the ice rink was vandalized overnight. The rink’s liner was punctured in multiple locations. Initially, the Village was going to close the rink for the season due to the extensive damage, however, Village staff wanted to attempt to repair it and have volunteered their time this evening to make repairs to the liner, add water to the rink and will evaluate whether the repairs were successful.
Please note that the
Village will not know if the repairs were successful until next week; if they are, the rink will not be reopened until the temperature drops and the water is able to freeze. The Village will provide an update next week on whether the repairs were successful.
The Police Department continues to investigate this act of vandalism. If you have any information or video that may assist in this investigation, please contact the Riverside Police Department at 708-447-9191.
