On Wednesday, April 26, 2017 District 96 Superintendent Martha Ryan-Toye called a safety meeting to discuss several important topics that include shared goals, student safety, annual drills, crisis planning, and communications.

Representing Riverside were Operations Lieutenant William Gutschick, Fire Chief Matthew Buckley, and Sergeant Leo Kotor. Police and Fire officials from Brookfield and North Riverside were also in attendance along with District 96 school principals and executive staff.

This was one of two meetings to focus on areas of concern and to ensure schools and public safety work together.

Lieutenant Gutschick relayed that it was a productive meeting with the focus on staff and students that attend schools within the district and that groundwork was laid to enhance student safety in all aspects. He added, “It’s good to know the school district and emergency services are working together as one for the children and employees within District 96.”
