The BNSF Railway has notified the village of two projects that will impact Riverside railroad crossings during the next two weeks.
LONGCOMMON CROSSING - FULL CLOSURE TO ALL TRAFFIC - VEHICLES, PEDESTRIANS, CYCLISTS
A full closure is planned starting at 9:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 15 through 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 22. Detours will be posted. All traffic will be rerouted to Cowley Road while work takes place at the Longcommon Road crossing. Please plan accordingly, especially with schoolchildren who utilize this crossing to get to and from school. Commuters will also need to make accommodations during this construction period to access their train on the proper side of the tracks.
2021 BNSF TIE BLITZ
Replacement of railroad ties is required to maintain a safe and efficient railroad system. This year, BNSF will replace 6800 railroad ties between Friday September 17 and Monday September 20. This overnight work will include numerous pieces of track equipment, increased noise from construction, train whistles from passing trains, and portable light posts in the area of work and will coincide with the crossing repairs at Longcommon Road.
