[ARCHIVED] Longcommon Grade Crossing Closure

The BNSF Railway has notified the village of two projects that will impact Riverside railroad crossings during the next two weeks.

LONGCOMMON CROSSING - FULL CLOSURE TO ALL TRAFFIC - VEHICLES, PEDESTRIANS, CYCLISTS

A full closure is planned starting at 9:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 15 through 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 22.  Detours will be posted.  All traffic will be rerouted to Cowley Road while work takes place at the Longcommon Road crossing.  

2021 BNSF TIE BLITZ

Replacement of railroad ties is required to maintain a safe and efficient railroad system. This year, BNSF will replace 6800 railroad ties between Friday September 17 and Monday September 20. This overnight work will include numerous pieces of track equipment, increased noise from construction, train whistles from passing trains, and portable light posts in the area of work and will coincide with the crossing repairs at Longcommon Road.

Herbert Road Pedestrian Crossing  
Closing Friday Night - September 17 at 7:00 p.m.
Reopening Saturday, September 18 at 8:00 a.m.

Reopening Sunday, September 19 at 8:00 a.m.         

Warning signs will be placed at these locations.
