The Riverside Police Department received Grant Funding for Automated External Defibrillators (AED) for police cruisers from Riverside Township. The Funding is a no match grant for eight thousand dollars to purchase 5 AEDs.
An AED can be used to treat someone with sudden cardiac arrest.
“Our thanks go out to the Riverside Township Board for creating this partnership that will have a direct, positive impact on public safety,” Police Chief Thomas Weitzel said. “Simply put, having AEDs in squad cars saves lives.”
Riverside Police have had AEDs for several years, however, the units have become outdated and this grant funding will replace and upgrade the AEDs currently in use.
Sergeant Jeff Miller handled the grant application for this project.
