The Village Forester would like to wish the Riverside community a Happy Arbor Day! In the absence of a community gathering, Mr. Collins invites you to stop by Guthrie Park and check out the latest addition to the Riverside Arboretum. A new yellow-poplar (Liriodendron tulipifera ) also known as a tulip tree has been planted near the horse trough. As part of an effort to Plant Trees For Communities, the Village of Riverside is partnering with the Chicago Region Trees Initiative to plant a tree for every community in the 7 county region! There will be a tag on each tree with a QR code so residents and visitors can learn more about this effort and see how to get more involved. Mr. Collins would like to remind you all that in these tough times, a walk in the woods can work wonders for your spirit. Take a walk in Olmsted’s historic creation and learn more about the trees in our community by using our online tree inventory tool. Get your children involved! Label the trees in front of your home with sidewalk chalk! Every day is Arbor Day in the Village in the Forest!
