[ARCHIVED] Think Spring - Think Bikes

Help shape the future of bike riding in the region by providing input about your bike riding experiences and goals.

The Cook County Department of Transportation and Highways (CCDOTH) is one of the Chicago region’s largest investors in bicycle infrastructure. Connecting Cook County, the department’s first long range transportation plan in 70 years, prioritized transit and non-vehicular travel, resulting in an increase in the investment of County resources for facilities that improve the comfort and safety of bicyclists and pedestrians.

The Invest in Cook program has further solidified the Department’s place as a funder of local bicycle infrastructure projects by awarding grants to local agencies to improve their community’s bicycle access and safety. The Cook County Bike Plan is the County’s effort to further refine its priorities, clearly define roles and responsibilities, and establish long-term goals for bicycle infrastructure in the County.

Traditional bike planning efforts have benefitted from a robust network of advocates that is predominantly made up of the region’s most experienced cyclists. These riders have helped shape the bicycle infrastructure in place today. This existing network of facilities is important and valuable to maintain while also striving to meet the needs of additional Cook County residents who wish to bike – regardless of age, ability, race, gender, ethnicity, or income. Most bicycle facilities in the region have been built with the input of our most confident and capable cyclists but fall short in providing the safety and comfort that would appeal to a broader cross section of County residents.

Your input will help set the priorities for future bike related projects and improvements.  Voice your opinion!
