[ARCHIVED] Police Explorer to Attend Leadership Academy

B Hastings

The Riverside Police Explorer Post #390 is proud to announce that Riverside Police Explorer Bailey Hastings, 16, of Riverside has been selected to attend a National Law Enforcement Leadership Academy through the Learning for Life division of the Boy Scouts of America.  Hastings will travel to Quantico Marine Base in Quantico, Virginia in June to train with the Drug Enforcement Administration for a week.  During her time there, she will learn the fundamentals of leadership, physical training, and law enforcement practices.  She was one of only 30 Explorers selected from a pool of applicants from across the United States to attend this opportunity which has been described as “An Adventure of a Lifetime” by past attendees.

“The National Law Enforcement Exploring Leadership Academies are a unique opportunity for Explorers to learn from the best and brightest in federal law enforcement.  The application process is strenuous and the committee only chooses Explorers who demonstrate a desire to excel in the law enforcement profession in the future.  Bailey has earned the right to attend this academy and I look forward to seeing her put the skills she learns to use as an Explorer as well as in a future career in law enforcement,” said Riverside Police Officer Brian Greenenwald, the Post Advisor.

Bailey Hastings has been a member of the Riverside Police Explorer Post #390 for over 2 years.  She attended the National Law Enforcement Exploring Conference 2016 in Flagstaff, Arizona with members of the Post.  In addition to Exploring, she is also a member of the National Honor Society, Girl Scouts, RBHS Student Association and RBHS Varsity Softball.  She hopes to have a career in Federal Law Enforcement.
