The Riverside Police Department has released the 2019 preliminary Crime Index. The report is a statistical synopsis of all crimes that are mandated to be reported to the Illinois State Police for 2019.
Overall crime was down 4.8%
Chief Thomas Weitzel stated “The Village of Riverside enjoys a high quality of life with low crime rates. The members of the police department work hard to provide a full range of services to residents, services often beyond what other communities are able to provide.”
Chief Weitzel credits the police officers and the residents with the reduction of crime in the Village. “The Village continues to invest in technology to improve police response and lessen opportunities for crime.” “But it is particularly gratifying to see our residents doing their part by reporting all crimes that occur, reporting any unusual or suspicious activity, and supporting police operations.”
