Crime statistics, released today by Chief Thomas Weitzel, show the overall crime rate in Riverside is down 6.4% for 2016. Statistics are based on preliminary numbers submitted to the Illinois State Police Uniform Crime Reports (UCR) System.
Riverside Police would like to thank the community for its assistance in reducing crime by taking the responsibility and initiative to call police when crimes or suspicious activity is observed. RPD received many tips and other information from the public in 2016 that helped track down criminals, stop ongoing crime and prevent future crime.
“In order to be successful at keeping crime down, various factors come into play. It has to be a team effort between officers, other law agencies, our citizens, and our judicial system. If any one of these factors falls short, it affects all of us. We’ll continue community outreach efforts to maintain citizen trust.” said Chief Weitzel.
A full review/report on all police activity will be detailed in the RPD Annual Report to be released at the end of March or early April.
Residents with questions, concerns or suggestions in regard to any police operations can contact Chief Tom Weitzel at email@example.com. Community feedback is always welcomed and we incorporate suggestions from our residents into our daily police mission.
