Riverside Police and St. Mary’s School Staff Participate in a Lockdown Drill-
Riverside Police and St. Mary’s School staff partnered for a safety lockdown drill on Wednesday, October 30, 2019.
As part of ongoing emergency action plan, the drill is designed for “prevention, preparedness, response and recovery from an intruder incident.”
At no time were any students or staff in immediate danger.
Chief Tom Weitzel stated, "I was pleased with the involvement of our officers and the way St. Mary’s implemented the crisis management plan. The safety of the students, teachers, and our officers are of paramount importance. Overall, the drill went very well.
“In the drill, we had police officers observe as school personnel conducted a lock down/ intruder exercise and checked rooms for proper procedures,” said Sgt. Frank Pontrelli.
St. Mary’s school is continuing to work closely with Riverside Police Department on all issues related to the safety of students and staff.
