The Village was recently notifed that Kenny Construction will begin repairing manhole structures in Riverside Road on Monday, October 14, weather permitting. This is the final phase of the MWRD Salt Creek Intercepting Sewer Relining Project. The work on Riverside Road may require detours and temporary road closures. Once the manhole repairs have been completed, the intersection of First and Forest Avenues will be restored including the removal of the bypass pumps and steel plates in First Avenue. This will result in temporary, but significant, traffic obstructions at the intersection of First & Forest Avenues. It is expected that this work will be completed by the end of November.
The locations in Riverside where manhole repairs will be made are:
- Miller Road north of Ogden Avenue;
- Riverside Road at Blackhawk Road;
- Riverside Road at Olmsted Road;
- Riverside Road at Gage Road; and
- Riverside Road at Lawton Road.
Once this work is completed, restoration of the intersection of First Avenue & Forest Avenue will begin. This work will necessitate a major traffic pattern change at the intersection just east of Riverside Brookfield High School. Please consider using an alternate route during this work. If you must travel through the intersection during this project, be sure to allow additional time to reach your destination. Both northbound lanes on First Avenue and the westbound to northbound turning lane on Forest Avenue will be closed during this work.
