The Riverside Police Department Announces Labor Day, “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over”, Enforcement Numbers.

The Riverside Police Department today announced that it made 2 suspended arrests, 1 fugitive arrest and issued 9 seat belt citations during the recent Labor Day, “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over”, campaign. Additionally, 24 other citations were issued.

“Through the Labor Day Enforcement effort, we helped to make our roads safer and spread the word that preventing impaired driving is a matter of life or death,” said Sgt. John Cairo.

The Riverside Police Department joined forces with law enforcement throughout the state in this high visibility enforcement campaign to help reduce impaired driving by enforcing live-saving seat belt, speeding and distracted driving laws from Aug. 16th through Sept. 3rd with the addition of approximately 5 officers working grant hours.

The Illinois, “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over”, campaign is administered by the Illinois Department of Transportation with federal dollars managed by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
