Crime Prevention

The mission of the Riverside Police Department is to provide a safe and secure environment while respecting the rights and dignity of all individuals. The safety and well-being of our residents, business community and visitors is always the department's primary concern.

The department has implemented several new crime prevention programs and is deploying new technology, including security cameras, improved communication systems, focused street patrols, and high visibility foot patrols to better respond to the needs of the community. The Riverside Police Department also offers a wide variety of crime prevention programs and support services.

Even with all of these safety measures in place, a truly safe community can only be achieved through the cooperation of residents.

Each member of the department is committed to working with all residents with the goal of becoming better partners in the reduction of crime.

Public Safety Director Matthew Buckley has stated: “Our Department takes great pride in being a community-oriented police department. We recognize that maintaining a safe community is only possible because of the strong and valued relationship between our department and the citizens of Riverside. Because of citizen cooperation and involvement, the Riverside Police Department is able to more effectively protect and serve the people who live, work, and visit our community."
