The Village of Riverside has made significant effort to enhance community quality of life and environmental sustainability.
Cross-Community Climate Collaboration(C4)
The Village is a voluntary participant in the new C4 initiative. C4 is designed to bring together regional communities to share ideas, secure resources, and drive large-scale projects within and across communities that achieve agreed upon greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions reductions, equity, and sustainability goals. All C4 goals and objectives will align with three fundamental Imperatives: Resiliency, Equity, and Climate Protection.
See more information about the Village's participation in the C4 Initiative.
Greenhouse Gas Inventory
The Chicago Metropolitan Agency for Planning (CMAP) has prepared a greenhouse gas (GHG) inventory summary for the Village of Riverside. This data tells us about transportation patterns and energy usage. We can use this information to consider actions that may reduce carbon emissions. See the GHG Inventory (PDF)
Riverside is an Arboretum
The Village has managed an electric aggregation program since 2012. Whether enrolled with MC2 or ComEd as a supplier, 100% of historical consumption is offset via Green Energy / Renewable Energy Credits (RECs). Learn more here.
