RR Grade Crossing Safety

Railroad crossing sign against blue sky background

Riverside Police Department reminds residents and those traveling through Riverside that it is not safe to stop on railroad grade crossings.  It is also illegal.

If you see that traffic is backed up on one side or the other of a grade crossing, wait before you proceed to cross the tracks to ensure that there's enough room on the other side of the grade crossing for you clear it and cross safely and not have to come to a stop on the tracks.

Riverside Police officers have noticed an increasing number of individuals coming to stop on grade crossings as a result of heavier traffic patterns.

Even though the gates are up, they could come down at any time and this is why you are strongly encouraged to not stop on grade crossings at any time.

Safety is our first concern and there's no beating a train.
