Over the past several months the Parks & Recreation Department has had the honor of working with Girl Scout Troop 41020 on their Silver Award project.
The project enhanced the Scout Cabin through the addition of cut log benches around the existing fire pit, an eight person picnic table, a garbage enclosure, and landscaping around the perimeter of the cabin. These enhancements will be enjoyed by Parks & Recreation Day Campers and the entire community and those who visit Riverside. As a troop, they learned many valuable lessons about community involvement and working with village leaders.
Thank you to the Scouts: Katie C, Elizabeth D, Katarina D, Azucena G, Mary H, Ella J, Makayla L, Raven M, Tess O, Lily R, Haley R and Margaret S!
Thank you to the Troop Leaders: Terri Lynne Colloden, Sarah Johnson, Cindy Reynolds and Diane Silva!
Special thanks to: Anderson Concrete Pumping, Lyons Tree Service, the Riverside Junior Woman’s Charity, Riverside Garage and Girl Scout Service Unit Manager Josie Diaz-Pope.
The young women in Troop 41020 are now high school sophomores attending five different schools in the area. Any high school girls interested in joining the troop should email: firstname.lastname@example.org for more information.
